For the first time, Canada has overtaken the United States as the world’s biggest mobile market for online advertising.
In Canada, there are more than 4.2 million mobile ad-supported users, compared to 4.1 million U.S. users, according to Kantar Media.
In the U.K., where Kantar reported that there are 2.8 million ad-backed users, there were more than 1.5 million.
Mobile ad-serving has become a big driver for both businesses and consumers.
In March, U.N. officials said ad-blocking software is becoming a major source of online content censorship.
The U.W. Council on International Trade also said this week that there’s a need for better data protection and consumer protection for consumers.
